Carers came from all over England and Wales to protest about the level of Carers Allowance and the means testing of the allowance for carers on benefits. We met with one aim and that was to make sure Carers Voices were heard at Number 10 Downing Street and in the House of Parliament.
A full report for the day is now available, including lots of additional information, which can be accessed by the menu on the right.
The paper petition, with over 1500 signatures was handed in to Number 10 by Christine Steel (CPA), Darren Osborne (CPA), David Borrow (MP), Tim Farron (MP), Deborah Osborne (CPA), Dennisha Villaverde, Cheryl Hudson and Wendy Ferrell.
Our thanks go not only to all those who attended on the day, but who also took photographs, which they have and still are sending to us. The Patients Experience, part of Icare and the Patient's Voice sent along their camera crew, as they did last year, who interviewed Christine Steel and David Borrow MP.
Bob Spink MP also presented the Petition in the house of Commons as promised.
This Carers Protest 2010 section of the website shows all the pictures we have received, published videos and news articles we are aware of. If you have photos, videos or know of any other media coverage not mentioned, please let us know so we can add it.
